Can you wear a brown leather bag with a black leather jacket?

ok if his mom's birthday my father arrives and wants to buy a mulberry bag ... We really like the leah Tote walnut (dark brown) .. Mum does not have a brown bag if we think it would be really good and is a good color for summer and winter .. But mom has a really nice leather jacket which she wears a lot in fall and winter to be a brown bag to go with it??? both bag and the jacket of gold detail on them that the links, but do you think both can be worn together or will they clash????
