What a backpack for a student in 9th?

I go to school in 2 days, and I not always have a backpack. I really do not know what to buy. What is a good color or design? Plaid is too purple school East? Or should I just keep my bag / large purse? It is dark blue. Please give me some advice! Oh, and are more frequent among crates of high school than backpacks?
