Niacin reaction .... What else to avoid, be concerned?

I was advised by a dietitian to take niacin (vitamin B3) because I am a vegetarian and eat lots of CARB. I am also on other vitamins to make sure I get everything I need to not eat meat / dairy products. Other vitamins I am on are; Glucosamine Sulfate Vit D Calcium Apple Cider Vinegar Ginkgo B6 B12 Biloba Green Tea Extract Niacin I took for the first time yesterday and within seconds, I was all red, my skin was itching and birning (feeling and touch), I was sick, and my time came EMS, my throat was closed. I now have to wait for allergy testing and carry epi pens with me. I was just wondering if anyone knows the foods to avoid, or if it could be a reaction with another vitumin (not on any Rx's) Should I be concerned about other B vitimuns?? Anything will help, Thanks!

yes, hot flashes, and of "pins and needles feelings, sweating, they are all common side effects when high doses of niacin ingested. Reactiions These can be very serious and frightening, but hardly ever dangerous. But what is really really disturbing is your account throat closing --- Not NORMAL SIDE EFFECT OF NIACIN, and is normally taken to mean an anaphylactic reaction (severe, life-threatening allergy). DO NOT RE-CHALLENGE YOU with niacin at any dose up to see a doctor! Do not bother with this stuff on your own - as you know now, This was not sure, all these things are chemicals that can interact with eachother. And there is potential for a fatal outcome if you come into contact with the same allergen. The problem is almost for sure niacin, if the only new thing that you take, and if your response was almost immediate. But know that in addition to niacin, which has made patient may also have to do with the combination of all the other countless things that you taking. I strongly advise you - do not continue the treatment itself - seek help from a good specialist in internal medicine, and perhaps an allergist, more to guide you in your choice of supplements. I must point out that there is little or no scientific evidence of any health benefits at all in the list above things that you take - meanwhile you are taking a huge risk of another severe reaction.
